La Marmotte Description:
Occupying a former ice house, La Marmotte offers a fine style of provincial French cuisine. The interior of the small brick building, adorned with wooden beams, hanging baskets and a 12-person chefs' table, exudes the ambience of a typical auberge. Appetizers include yellowfin tuna tartare, and hot and cold foie gras with cherry chutney. The original fish presentations vary with the market and season. We have enjoyed such entrées as filet of pork with leeks; a traditional, Toulouse-style confit of duck; and a quite wonderful rack of venison flavored with gin and ginger---a combination as pleasing as it is alliterative. During the summer, dine under blue skies on one of the sunny patios affording spectacular mountain views.
