Cactus Description:
Mexican, Southwestern and Spanish cuisine are creatively combined in this stylish, casual neighborhood restaurant that's also Seattle's oldest tapas bar and a longstanding favorite in posh Madison Park. The festive interior is beautifully tiled and festooned with bright, funky folk art creating a fitting backdrop for the menu. The kitchen specializes in putting surprising twists on Mexican standards, so sharing a number of small plates makes a satisfying meal. Order a topnotch margarita or a minty mojito to accompany your starters: bacon-wrapped, goat cheese-filled jalapeños, coconut prawns, or saffron-scented zarzuela (seafood stew) are our favorites. As for entrées, we recommend the chile relleno, ancho chile-crusted tuna, or pork steak adobo served with coconut rice and banana-black bean mash. Don't miss the Navajo fry bread or the Cuban flan. If you've manage to save room for dessert, twirl a spoon into bananas dulce, the luscious house version of bananas Foster, served with coconut ice cream.
