Guadalupe Café Description:
The Guadalupe Café isn't on Guadalupe Street any more. No matter. It's still one of Santa Fe's most beloved restaurants. Folks from Albuquerque make the drive just to dive into a plateful of carne adovada, pinto beans and home fried potatoes. We're particularly partial to the chicken sour cream enchiladas. The servings are huge. You can order half portions; but if you have a fridge handy, we suggest you plan on taking home half to enjoy later. The Northern New Mexican-style breakfast tostadas are also popular---two corn tortillas topped with beans, sausage or ham, eggs and your choice of chile sauces (try Christmas-style, which is half red and half green). The restaurant is within walking distance of the State Capitol building, known as the Roundhouse. So, when the legislature is in session in January, the wait for a table can be ridiculous. The people-watching, however, is great.
