Houston Street Bistro's location between two restored theaters, the atmospheric Majestic and the jewel-box Empire, is reflected in the menu's nomenclature. On the classic side, consider the Vivaldi tomato bisque. Salads bear names such as Jersey Boys, which is a chicken Caesar. Entrées include a breast of chicken with sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms, a Cabaret composition of sautéed pork tenderloin in white wine with capers, and South Pacific salmon, marinated, grilled and served over some enchanted (well, at least French) lentils. At noon, a grilled portobello sandwich served on ciabatta with grilled onions, smoked Gouda, aïoli and balsamic drizzle stands out.
