Café Paragon Description:
Why visit Providence and not try to eat as the students do? Café Paragon is a good place to start, and always filled with a young and eclectic group from Brown and RISD. The mid-size room is wrapped in windows and peers straight onto the throbbing Thayer Street scene. Inside the crowd is so loud and lively that it's almost possible to overlook the kitchen's healthy and flavorful renditions of Mediterranean and American staples. The menu falls under the something-for-everyone category. Salads are affordable and flavorful; the Caesar and the Avocado Roma (Gorgonzola, red onions, avocado, tomatoes) are rich and quite tasty. Fried calamari, crab cakes and saki sushi tuna are all appetizers worth sharing. Entrées are simple---filet mignon with herbed butter, salmon with pesto---and more often than not bypassed for the many bountiful pastas, pizzas and sandwiches.
