Tazza Caffè Description:
Unlike most coffeehouses, Tazza Caffè is the opposite of intimate---but it works fine. Located in Downcity Providence's historic Alice Building, this funky urban gathering place spreads tables, couches and a coffee bar across its brightly lit space, hung with orange and red lanterns. Coffee cognoscenti taking an afternoon break wisely bypass the nearby Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts for Tazza, which uses the fourteen-hour, cold-extruded method to brew superior iced java. There's also a menu of salads, burgers and favorites like the three-cheese panini. After nightfall, Tazza is transformed into a low-key performance space, with college students cruising in to catch live jazz, funk and impromptu jam sessions fueled by caffeine and stronger stuff well into the evening.
