This neighborhood bistro attracts diners from throughout the city. It's a sophisticated spot with a familiar feel: wooden beams, huge windows, and an open kitchen. But the cooking is something else altogether. There are very few Portland restaurants that offer utterly distinctive food so well prepared. Guiding the kitchen, chef David Machado reverently creates Mediterranean and American dishes. Even the customary standbys, such as moussaka or paella, are different simply because of the careful preparation and authentic flavors. The grilled items soar. For dessert, dip a spoon into the delightful Portuguese flan flavored with port. The wine list is comprised of selections from Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece, with the most popular wines available by the glass or pitcher.
