Maracas Restaurant Description:
Like moths attracted to a flame, diners may be drawn to the red chili pepper lights and garish colors that decorate this vibrant Mexican eatery. The problem is, they may not want to come back. Situated on restaurant-heavy Greenwich Avenue in the West Village, there is just too much competition in the area and not enough quality control here. Come for the margaritas, which are potent and inexpensive, and then think about moving on. Maracas' menu is long, filled with lots of traditional dishes and a few Nuevo Latino offerings, but nothing notable: soggy nachos leave an unfortunately greasy aftertaste and tacos will leave you craving actual flavor. Even though the ambience screams "fiesta!" there may not be a party in your mouth.
