Bath City Bistro Description:
The lively atmosphere in this brick-walled spot makes it much more a brasserie than a bistro, but semantics aside, this new restaurant which features Belgian trough bowling (the only spot for this ancient sport besides Detroit's Cadieux Café) is a welcome addition to the revived downtown of the old city of Mount Clemens---Bath City. The place was so named because it was a center for mineral bathhouses a century ago. The varied menu includes steamed mussels, steak and chicken fajitas and a number of steaks. The building on a brick-paved street with vintage street lamps was completely renovated to house a high-ceilinged dining room, an adjoining cozy bar with a blazing fireplace, and three lanes for bowling, one on the first level, the others on the second. Recommended dishes, in addition to the fajitas, are lightly breaded perch sautéed with lemon, Greek salad, onion rings and the freshly made potato chips called cottage fries. The proprietors, three women who have known each other since the fifth grade, are hands-on restaurateurs.
