R & O's well-executed Creole-Italian repertoire exhibits a polish that belies the low prices and birthday party atmosphere of the sprawling Bucktown A-frame. Olive salads, thin-crust pizzas and squares of thick, silky house-made cheesecake are worth the drive out to Lake Pontchartrain. Splash some of the meaty country gravy over anything from french fries to po' boys to french fry po' boys. Wait times can average 30 minutes during peak hours at this spot, so bring something to entertain the little people in case they begin to fidget. But in season, R & O's is the best place for both kids and adults to dirty their hands in mounds of nicely boiled crawfish.
