Chef Andrea Appuzo created this upscale Italian restaurant in the suburb of Metairie, and Andrea's has been an area fixture for almost a quarter century. The chef's light touch with seasonings reflects his dedication to allowing the full flavors of his foods to emerge. Known for his creative renderings with fresh seafood (try the Dover sole with caper meunière sauce), Apuzzo peppers his menu with a respectable variety of antipasti, fruits de mer and scampi. The smooth Mediterranean touch is evident from the caprese salad to the veal scaloppine to the cioppino. The charismatic Apuzzo is very much in charge of his kitchen, but makes frequent appearances in the cavernous dining rooms, delighting the regular clientele.
