Mr Kong Description:
Mr Kong has been refurbished and now looks posh, and is all yellows and greens. Its two floors inevitably get packed with diners but don't let that put you off. Consider chef's specials or ask the manager for suggestions. They might be deep-fried crispy aubergine with yam paste, miraculously transmuting two bland ingredients into a richly flavoured dish, which, by the way, comes with a not-too-sweet sweet-sour sauce; or steamed stuffed prawns with prawn paste in garlicky sauce. The range of seafood is wide and the adventurous will find surf clam, razor clam and top shell. And for the incorrigibly audacious there are stuffed pigs' intestines with spicy salt. Set meal £10, set menus for minimum of two people £18 to £23 (minimum four people).
