Daphne's Description:
Daphne's is part of the Caprice group which includes its more famous venues, Le Caprice, The Ivy and Scott's. It's very pretty, divided into two rooms with tiled floors, light-coloured walls, an open fire in the second room to keep the winter blues at bay and lots of greenery, re-creating the nice Tuscan glow that second home owners so adore. It's favoured by the ladies-who-lunch crowd, evident from the preponderance of bottles of mineral water on the tables; while in the evenings one can still spot the odd honcho or film star. The menu ranges over antipasti, pastas and risottos, grills and roasts. All the ingredients are impeccably sourced and chosen, favouring the seasonal. Dishes run from the homely---braised meatballs with roasted potatoes and tomato sauce---to the classic---roast rabbit with polenta and black olives. The wine list has some interesting Italian wines, little known over here. Service is professional. The set menus cover lunch and pre-theatre (to 7pm) and are a generous £16.50 for 2 courses and £18.50 for 3.
