Automat Description:
Posh Mayfair has a posh diner. Divided into two sections, it's decorated in two styles: café in the front with mosaic floors; leather, mirrors and booths at the back with an open kitchen. It's owned by New York architect and nightclub owner Carol Almada, and is more bistro-like than diner though homesick Americans gather here for a down-home-style brunch at the weekend. The cooking is reliable, not great but you come here for atmosphere and the chance to ogle a few celebrities. The menu takes in chicken liver and foie gras mousse; chilli con carne; soft shell crabs, burgers and fries. It's expensive for what it is but that's par for Mayfair.
