Yming Description:
Owner Christine Yau's delightful, small Chinese restaurant has consistently served good food for many years. For a start, it's a pretty venue in an old townhouse. The cooking is thoroughly authentic and specialises in dishes from the Northern provinces, with other regional dishes appearing on the menu. Favourites include double-braised pork with preserved vegetables; spare ribs which come three different ways; slow-cooked Empress beef; lobster with spiced salt; and duck breast sliced with orange and spices. Added to this is the pleasure of tasting the other homemade additions like pickles and dumplings. It's a peaceful, reassuring place, far from the frenzy of most Chinatown restaurants and there is a good wine list to juggle with your food. Set lunch £10, set meals £16-£22 per person.
