This austere café has the look of a standard roadside diner in Anywhere, USA, until you open the menu. True local-style grinds are served here; try a hearty breakfast of eggs served with rice and Portuguese sausage, or be adventuresome (and smart) and go for miso soup and eggs. Lunch and dinner are heavy on the meat and gravy, although the oxtail soup is another local legend. Asian-style entrées like donburi and teriyaki beef are served, too, and the sushi and sashimi are a good value and very fresh.
