Niche Description:
This elegant restaurant started as a labor of love from the staff behind still-sorely-missed 302 West. The space is stylish yet approachable with sepia photography, wood accents and soothing hues. Jeremy Lycan's New American cuisine offers up interesting seasonal takes on hauntingly good fare---and some fun, playful variations on what's familiar (we've enjoyed a trio of deviled eggs, one with lobster and caviar). The oft-changing menu includes more hits than misses, as in the velvety cauliflower soup with sweet pepper-sherry emulsion and pea tendrils. Far from boring, roasted Carolina redfish is served on a bed of scallion-studded basmati rice, while white truffled free-range chicken mates with sage stuffing, chanterelles and herbed poultry glace. But it's the blackberry buckle that really gets our engines revving.
