The Veranda Description:
Furnished like the living room of an upscale old Island home, The Veranda is the spot for afternoon tea (served from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) and offers upscale pupu and cocktails throughout the afternoon and evening. The tea menu features teas from the French purveyor Mariage Frères including a very special green tea, Bouddha Bleu, sprinkled with blue cornflowers, and Wedding Imperial, a golden Assam rich with hints of chocolate and caramel. With tea comes an assortment of confectioneries (scones with clotted cream, mixed berry Pavlova, lavender tea cookies, brown butter madeleines) and tea sandwiches (try the open-face apple-Boursin cheese with tarragon on walnut raisin bread). From the light-appetizer menu, we suggest the North Shore tomatoes served with Big Island goat cheese fritters and a Lehua honey balsamic reduction. The live entertainment each evening often leads to dancing---could there be a better way to end an evening in paradise than with a fine cocktail and a twirl around the room? We think not.
