Big Fattys Bbq Description:
Finding good barbecue at this latitude can be daunting, but for some it's a culinary crusade. Crusaders can be thankful that Burlington has Big Fatty's. Festooned with posters splashed with pithy commands ("Put some South in your mouth!"), the restaurant only seats two dozen guests, and ordering is done at the counter. But that's where the leanness ends. When a steaming basket of pulled pork arrives on your table, you'll think you've landed in Dixie. Its tangy vinegar kick betrays a loyalty to North Carolina pig pickin'. The dark, hickory-smoked ribs look unassuming, but these slabs of beef are the real deal. After being slow cooked all day, meat falls right off the bone, and there's plenty to share. So slather the cornbread with honey butter, order a pint of Switchback (it's available on tap), and check out the live blues on Fridays.
