Surrounded by a green picket fence festooned with antiquarian kitchen utensils (many weathered by harsh Buffalo winters) and a dining room draped with kitschy mirrors and other retro objets d'art, the perpetually crowded Solid Grounds Food Gallery is a charming breakfast and brunch hang-out. The banana-walnut pancakes drizzled with clover honey and the cinnamon-vanilla dipped french toast are topnotch. For the more carb-conscious there's always the egg white omelet with scallions, tomatoes and spinach as well as the goat cheese-and-red pepper omelet. While breakfast is the crowning achievement at this trendy little destination, lunch items such as mixed field greens salad (with chicken, Gorgonzola, caramelized pecans and apples) and lemon-dill tuna sandwich are also solid picks.
