Ambrosia has long been among the best in this cities legion of Greek diners. The contemporary styling includes impeccable cherry floors and earth-tone walls. Tables and chairs show a consciousness of design atypical of a restaurant that serves mainly eggs and sandwiches. Breakfast dominates the menu, though Greek entrées may beckon later in the day. To the standard pancakes and eggs add a garlic lover's omelet and the Saganaki breakfast: eggs with peppers, onions, tomatoes and feta cheese. For dinner, try a Greek specialty such as dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), plaki (broiled haddock in a tomato sauce seasoned with cinnamon), or pastitsio (baked macaroni with beef and béchamel sauce). Ambrosia's rich food cannot claim to offer immortality, like the ambrosia of Greek myth, but just because the food isn't elegant doesn't mean one shouldn't eat it in style.
