Bardenay Description:
Located in the downtown Basque district, Bardenay is a warehouse restaurant and distillery with covered patio-seating, which includes heaters for the colder months. The mood is airy with high, exposed-beam ceilings and an open floor space. Unfortunately, that same airiness creates quite a bit of noise. Nonetheless, the bar is long and always occupied, and your eye cannot help but zero in on the two-story, brass distillery creating Bardenay's own house vodka and gin. Be apprised: you'll want to taste the nontraditional house gin martini with a pop of Lillet and garnish of Tomolives. Appetizers range from zesty cumin calamari and clams Portuguese to spicy Asian plum-glazed wings, plus satays in a variety of savory choices. Entrées are a bit limited---go with the hearty "Wild Turkey Bourbon" pork loin chops. However, the menu lists over 15 sandwiches including an impressive black bean and sweet potato chimichanga not just for vegetarians.
