Le Cafe De Paris Description:
While owner Mathieu Choux aims to serve "casual French food" in this establishment, what he's really achieved is fine French cuisine presented in an informal setting "sans prétention." The space is simple and airy with high industrial ceilings, but the comfortable seating, soft window treatments, and overall décor create provincial warmth and a welcoming ambience. Fresh baguettes, pastries and the aroma of rich coffee set the tone right at the entrance. Entrées are straightforward, presented on a one-page broadsheet. Choices may include pork tenderloin with zucchini, roasted apples and garlic potatoes; rack of lamb with asparagus, red wine-glazed potatoes and tomato jam; or braised chicken with almond couscous. But don't be deceived by the simplicity. These classic dishes burst with clear, complementary flavors and rarely contradict one another, allowing complex tastes to come alive on the palate. Our first choice is the tender flat iron steak dolloped with ewe's milk blue cheese accompanied by foie gras hash browns and sautéed asparagus. A small wine shop within the restaurant houses 70 French labels. For dessert, indulge in the duck egg crème brûlée. Included in Choux's repertoire is his dance lounge, Catacomb. Located just beneath the Café, European beats can be heard every night of the week.
