Bobby & June Country Kitchen Description:
Right here in sophisticated Atlanta, you can find streak-o-lean for breakfast with decent grits and a properly fried egg, fried chicken and fixing's, barbecue smoked in a brick oven over real wood, served with a single house-made sauce, and topnotch sweet iced tea. We also recommend the pulled pork sandwich and the ribs. You can perch on a rocker on the front porch if the inside is packed (and it might well be) and you have to wait for a table. If it's your lucky day, you might get in a round of checkers with the owner. Within, the place is a world away from Midtown's high-rise buildings. Antique farm and kitchen implements line the walls. There's a line-up of old soft-drink bottles (Royal Crown Cola---still made in Columbus, Georgia). If you're dining solo, sit at the counter so you can yak it up with the waitresses as they go about their business most efficiently. You'll be renamed "Honey" or "Sugar" as the conversation goes along, but that's part of the experience.
