Owner-chef Kent Betts lavishes a lot of love on this delightful candlelit restaurant that features white linen tablecloths and opera on the sound system. Diners can splurge on smoked salmon and scallops, osso buco Milanese and $100 wines, or enjoy a more casual meal of pizza and beer. Ingredients used in crafting the primarily Northern Italian menu are always as fresh and as local as possible. Simple but well prepared classics may include lasagna layered with meaty bolognese and creamy béchamel; smoky eggplant Parmigiana; lovely, light gnocchi; tender calamari steaks sautéed with butter, lemon and capers; and lamb tenderloin in port wine sauce with fresh mushrooms. The 120-bottle wine list offers something to delight every palate, at varying prices. Desserts, even the gelato, are homemade; whirl your spoon into the airy chocolate mousse or tiramisu.
