The imposing brick Edgefield estate (constructed circa 1911) was once Oregon's state poor farm, but ignore the sad history and enjoy the singular charm of this countrified inn-with-benefits. The rustic dining room blends early American and turn-of-the-century touches with contemporary flair. Hearty dishes such as honey-chipotle glazed pork tenderloin and pan-roasted wild salmon dominate the menu. The kitchen uses ingredients from Edgefield's own organically grown gardens. The estate also boasts its own winery---try its Pinot Gris or Cabernet. Or partake in some of the house-roasted coffee. After the meal, stroll in the herb garden, catch a second-run movie at the theater-bar, or enjoy the hand-painted murals and other original art throughout the building.
