Trane Studio, The Description:
The main draw is the live music, which starts most nights after eight and rocks until past midnight. Owner Frank Francis is skilled at finding good bands, some of which bring along their own entourage of devotees. The Caribbean food of chef Eglon Walker is better than you might expect, though the place feels more music hall than restaurant---even if candlelight at night lends a more intimate, romantic vibe. The soup of the day may be a generous bowl of nicely spiced red bean purée. Jamaican-style pepper shrimp comes with crunchy plantain chips and fiery house-made salsa. Jerk-spiced free-range chicken breast sits on a bed of smashed potato with blanched asparagus and green beans. Desserts could be coconut cream pie, bourbon brownie or pecan pie. Cocktails are fresh and made with organic juices, but the wine selection is limited.
