Review :
i saw this place in the Food network Canada show, Restaurant Makeover. my first visit was couple of weeks ago and the food was real good. i was so impressed that i went back today with the mother-in-law, but even she didn't deserve what we got today. In my two visits, my groups had lamb, goat, chicken and grouper, but the rice that serve as the bed for the proteins are identical, no matter what the main protein was. But in our first visit, the rice was so good. i mean, i thought it was one of the very best rice i've ever tasted. and the goat was meaty, tender and flavourful. However, on my second visit, after we sat ourselves and waited 5 minutes to be somewhat 'greeted' by a tall, pimply teenager who was oozing awkward teenage insecurities, who al sounded like his voice was changing, everything went downhill. i am guessing his voice was changing because he really didn't speak much, instead choosing to sort of grunt and mumble most of the times. And the food was DIFFERENT than our first visit there. it just didn't have the same flavours like my previous visit. coriander chicken was a very average dish. in my first visit, there was a lot of saffron infused rice mixed with regular rice, but this time, hardly any colour was noticeable. still good tasting rice, but nowhere near the original experience. but the slap in the face came when i asked for the bill. the menu had the dishes at $9 each, but, when he came over to our table with his calculator, yes, he actually walked over to the table and calculated the tab right on our table, the kid said the dishes are $12 each. when i reminded him the price on the menu, he said, 'it hasn't been updated'. i do think they could charge more than $9 for what they were serving, as the portions are huge, but, wow, to say to the customer that their own menu didn't have the right price and we'll tell you the updated price at the time of payment was really really utterly truly pathetic. my first visit was served by the owner, and he was very nice and helpful, along with the food being bang on, but after today, i really really can't say i would reco this establishment, nor would i go near the place ever again.
