Balkan Restaurant (Original) Description:
The Original Balkan Restaurant grill in Darlinghurst was first fired up in 1964 and has been operated by the same Croatian family ever since. The Balkan has always been known and loved for it's warm and friendly atmosphere, excellent European style cuisine and generous portions. Cevapi (Spicy sausage),Raznici (pork skewers), poached Tasmanian mussels and whole Barramundi are specialties of the house and have made the Balkan famous. The "Balkan Grill" is where the most tender meats and choice seafood is barbecued and then served with fresh traditional Croatian style cabbage and potato salad

Have been eating here for years. We have a big family so its hard to find a venue that everyone likes but when we suggest The Balkan there is a unanimous yes.
The service is excellent, this is a busy place and you are still treated as though you are a bit special. Now thats refreshing! we always have the Cevapi they are always tops and the garlic prawns are the best in town. The steaks are incredible, well cooked and tender I know that they buy the best cuts and these cuts are little expensive but worth it. Really large servings as well so be careful not to over order. so enjoy the experience. Very highly recommended.
