La Provence Description:
This Provençal restaurant overlooking the Snowmass Valley is a true gourmet destination and is booked solid during ski season. There is a casual brasserie menu with an Italian spin (ravioli, gnocchi) in addition to stylish French cooking. If romance is in the air and we're up for something more elegant, we look to the French side of the menu and begin with the woodland mushroom soufflé with a marinated magret of duck in a sun-dried cherry-tangerine vinaigrette, or the escargot-and-wild mushroom ravioli with roasted elephant garlic, ginger cream and tapenade. For a main course, the freshwater striped bass in a potato crust en papillotte with rock shrimp and lime beurre blanc is delectable. There are also game dishes that might include venison and quail, depending on availability. Surprisingly, this very adult restaurant also offers a children's menu and take-out.
