Ken Of Japan Description:
Simi residents can have very different dining experiences here, which is why it appeals to so many people. Ken of Japan is large, but popular enough that it's often crowded on the weekends. The décor---plain in keeping with an Asian sensibility---is starting to show its age. If you sit in the smaller dining room with booths (to the left as you enter the restaurant), you can order tempura, tonkatsu (a fried pork cutlet), udon, halibut or other dishes off the à la carte menu and enjoy a quiet dinner. A number of sushi and sashimi combinations are available at the sushi bar in the larger dining room (to the right and at the end of the room). Cut rolls and hand rolls are stuffed with yellowtail, lobster, spicy tuna and more. Another option is to sit at one of the busy teppenyaki tables where showman chefs grill up your meal of teriyaki (chicken, beef or salmon), which comes with miso soup, house salad and rice. The meals are relatively inexpensive and of high quality.
