Circa Description:
Go for the brew but stay for the food. This West Seattle spot caters to families and happy hour diners during the early evening, then fills up with neighbors and solo patrons during later hours. The atmosphere is informal with terra cotta-colored walls and antique school lamps hanging from the ceiling. Our favorite seats are at the bar, a nice perch for watching the crowd, the taps and the portal to the kitchen. Robust pub fare abounds here---hummus plates and quesadillas, a solid burger and fries. But the menu also includes successful departures such as bacon-wrapped meatloaf and vegetarian dishes. Entrées also include fish and Mexican-inspired plates, daily soups and nightly specials. Portions and pours are generous with prepared-to-order sides and accompaniments such as seasonal vegetables sautéed with herbs. Service is friendly, if often stretched thin. While slow nights are rare, management occasionally opts to close the kitchen early so late diners are advised to call ahead.
