Burrito Loco Description:
From its name, you might think Burrito Loco is just another typical fast food joint, but this festive Mexican diner is several cuts above, serving well-prepared, authentic dishes from Central Mexico. Owners Alejandro and Anabel Garcia honor their regional cuisine by preparing all dishes from scratch and without lard. Must-haves include ceviche; anything served in the dark, rich, house mole; and torta ahogado, a soft white roll mounded with your choice of meat in a sweet-hot barbecue sauce. Albondigas, a tomato-based vegetable soup, is a certified kid-pleaser, as are little tacos stuffed with mashed potatoes. An agua fresca makes a great chaser, but we find the sweet horchata, made from evaporated milk and rice, an acquired taste. A bar serves up south-of-the-border cocktails and Mexican beers.
