Boka Description:
This sophisticated, flirty venue is anchored in the tony Hotel 1000. BOKA (short for "bold, original kitchen artistry") sports a stylish urban décor that features digitally controlled art and wall coloring that changes several times throughout the course of an hour. "Urban bites" might include moist miniature crab cakes skewered like lollipops on sugar cane or Boka poke (ahi). Lunch salads are generous but not inspired; instead, go for the Vietnamese pork sandwich with a side of yam fries or the Alaskan king salmon burger. Artistically presented entrées include tamarind-glazed barbecue duck leg and pan-roasted Idaho trout served with black rice and crispy shallots. Service is smooth and snappy. The cuisine is complemented by a good wine list and the cocktails are inventive. For a late night sweet, pair a "liquid dessert" (chocolate martinis, anyone?) with burnt honey and vanilla bean crème brûlée. This is a good spot for a business or gal-pal lunch as well as a pre- or post-theatre dinner.
