FareStart Description:
With a unique mission to train once-homeless people to work in the food industry, Farestart offers three-course Thursday night dinners for under $25. These dinners are prepared and served by Farestart students with guidance from local, usually well-known guest chefs. The restaurant's soaring ceilings, trendy décor, and tastefully presented food belie the fact that you're supporting a non-profit organization. The lunch menu offers turkey sandwiches, burgers and fish 'n' chips as well as more interesting items, such as a seared halibut special and a hazelnut-encrusted lentil-sage patty sandwiched between soft potato bread slathered with fig mayonnaise and Dijon mustard. Service is friendly and efficient. This is an opportunity to enjoy good food while supporting the community.
