ChunYuan Seafood Square Description:
Huge outdoor restaurant square with over 400 tables belonging to over 40 different stalls. They open in the afternoon and become very busy in the evening when locals and tourists come here to eat the locally harvested seafood.
The food has to be purchased in the attached market because the stalls only prepare and clean it for you (for a small service fee) for the individual hot pots at your table. Individual stall owners are more than willing to accompany and help you choosing some quality seafood.
There are three ways to eat seafood. Dabianlu (hotpot boiled), fried or steamed. Most prefer the hotpot as it holds the original fresh flavor of the seafood better than the other two.
Very noisy and not very clean but very characteristic, tasty food and not expensive (if you can bargain... otherwise you risk to be ripped).
Only annoying part is the presence of many nagging individual sellers (constantly offering fruit, desserts..).
