Arlequin Description:
This simple eatery boasts an Italian quarry tile stand-up eating bar, a modern California-Provencal setting, and good lineage. It is the more casual sibling to both the fabulous Absinthe brasserie and bar and the Amphora Wine Merchant, all located on the same block. The straightforward and fresh menu makes Arlequin perfect for a light meal, quick snack, or simple take-out. Not to start at the end, but the house-made ice creams, sorbets, and frozen yogurts are breathtaking. Try the ginger frozen yogurt and tangerine sorbet next time the temperature starts to sizzle. Also, we love the grilled sandwiches, which always remind us of Europe, like the croque Arlequin (ham, Gruyère and Dijon) or the bacon, Vermont cheddar and grilled pear. Cold sandwiches, salads, and specialty cheeses sold by the ounce round out the menu.
