Review :
Like others have said on different restaurant review sites, Milano's pizza tastes pretty good. It's the kind you order when you want something greasy, and tons of it. They use nickel-sized pepperoni like Heavy Duty used to, although their pizza pales in comparison.
The main issue I have with Milano's is their mediocre service and poor attitude. Since I live in the neighbourhood, I'm always walking or driving by, and I have several complaints.
- I once drove by at around 8pm on a Friday, on my way to get my significant other from work. Lights are on, signs are on, and can see people inside. I arrived at my destination at around 8:12, parked, and grabbed my cell phone to call and place an order. Call goes right to voicemail. Called again a couple minutes later, was put on hold and then hung up on 5 minutes later. Called again...voicemail. I then called a few more times over the next few minutes, with no success. On my way home at 8:45, saw that the place was still all lit up, so I went in. All lights on, door unlocked, guy working chatting away on the phone while one of his friends waits in the front lobby. He says they just closed.
I call the next day to complain, and I speak to the guy who's always there. This guy - http://milanospizza.ca/Reviews.php - don't know if he's the manager, but he's always there. His response? "So? We closed early." He didn't sympathize or apologize, but he did offer to take my order!
- Was walking my dog (hypo-allergenic, by the way) today and decided I would pop in and grab a slice, seeing as I believe in second chances. Put my dog under my arm, barely get the door open and he gives me a condescending look and says "this is a food place. I can't have your dog in here", to which I reply "he's hypo-allergenic, and I just want to grab a slice and I'll be gone". He then says "I don't want any dog trouble", so I told him I would never buy or recommend his food again and left. It's fine if you don't want dogs in your restaurant, but to deny a paying customer absolutely sucks. Why not take my order without me even coming in, bring the slice to the door and take my money? Your once loyal customer is now a pissed off customer who writes negative reviews about you and your service on the internet. Great job.
- Hours posted on their web site say that they are open until 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, but I have not seen them open past 9 or 9:30 ANY day of the week for quite some time now. Any pizza joint that's dead enough on a weekend evening to close that early probably shouldn't be in business. Kinda says something about the quality of their product.
Avoid.
