Tom's Oyster Bar - Royal Oak Description:
The small storefront on Royal Oak's busy Main Street usually is packed to the gills. People often are two-deep at the bar, which shares the space with equally crammed tables covered with blue-and-white-checked cloths. It's all part of the tavern experience, which has found full flower in the oyster bars in Tom's family. As the name indicates, fresh, raw oysters on the half shell take center stage. But that's not to say the bluefish pâté, peel-and-eat shrimp or dozen-plus fresh fish and seafood selections chalked on the board are second-rate. Whatever you do, don't miss is the good crawfish bisque. The notable beer and wine list also is a draw.
