The lace-curtained café has been serving its carefully crafted vegetarian dishes for many years. It's no wonder since chef-proprietor Thomas Lasher believes in market fresh produce, organic whenever possible. The menu has ethnic twists, reflecting Lasher's interest in Indian, Japanese, Mexican and Greek fare. His experience in India has influenced his cuisine, which focuses on flavor as well as nutrition. House bread is a sturdy multi-grain, while you'll find multigrain crusts on the pizzas and whole wheat phyllo ramping up butternut-leek pie. The menu is augmented with daily specials, which we recommend highly; order the Peruvian blue potato cakes with Michigan pear chutney whenever possible. There is a long list of non-alcoholic beverages, including an array of teas, fruit smoothies and cider.
