Typhoon! Description:
Based in Portland with six locations in Oregon, Typhoon!'s only Washington location is tucked away in a shopping mall near Microsoft in Redmond. Owners Bo and Stephen Kline serve authentic, high-quality Thai cuisine in a gracious setting. Booths are backed in Thai silk, and tables and chairs are crafted of dark, gleaming wood. From the miang kum (a make-it-yourself roll of toasted coconut, shallot, ginger, lime, peanut, dried shrimp, chilies and fruity house sauce wrapped in a spinach leaf) to tom yum goong (soul-soothing, hot-and-sour lemon grass soup with shrimp) to Royal Duck curry (succulent fowl in a searing sauce studded with pineapple and grapes), we have yet to eat a bite at Typhoon! that we didn't enjoy. The extensive tea list includes 150 or so black, green and rare white teas. Desserts include authentic Thai mango and sticky rice, as well as our favorite, homemade coconut ice cream melting into hot pear cobbler.
