The farm-to-table movement is in full swing at this comfortable neighborhood restaurant where Southern-style comfort food is prepared with a modern twist. The Whole Hog platter features pork three ways: rolled belly, brined chop, and smoked shoulder on grits with Sekel pears. Molasses and hickory-smoked duck legs arrive with juniper braised cabbage and chanterelle mushroom bread pudding. For brunch, try the cast-iron fried chicken served with toasted pecan spoonbread. Down-home cooking just doesn't get more interesting. Just stick with the meat dishes, which are much more successful than the fish or pasta. The bar serves more than a dozen bourbons, and it's always a lively scene. The service is friendly and the fare is fine, with a kids' menu on request. This is a good spot to pig-out gracefully.
