This unusual, funky Eastside wine bar is favorite hangout for local artists, writers and dramatists---the cosmopolitan types who recognize the place is named after the acclaimed Finnish architect of the 1960s, Alvar Aalto. It's a good spot to find pure comfort through food, drink and conversation. The staff is always relaxed and glad to see you---when you can find them; service here is occasionally sketchy. A well-planned selection of beer and wine awaits, as well as an affordable menu of light fare including substantial soups, salads and sandwiches.
