Pearl Bakery Description:
The artisan bread movement is now part of Portland's foodie fabric, and this is one of the bakeries that started it all. The breads here are exceptional and varied; the pastries are first-rate: croissants, danish, brioche. Lunch offerings include a Black Forest ham sandwich with sliced red onion and roasted red pepper aïoli on pain au levain, or pears, arugula and Gorgonzola cheese on walnut levain. The bakers turn out a dazzling array of wares, from cookies to tarts to sumptuous cakes to Parisian-style macarons. Of course, the famous rustic bread is served in many of Portland's finest restaurants.
