Few places offer topnotch, affordable fare and a comfortable location. Nostrana provides not only that, but this rustic Italian neighborhood spot delivers. The enormous, arched-ceiling dining room is generally filled with families, couples, and large parties seated at well-spaced tables. The wood-fire is the heart of the establishment; pizzas and most entrées are cooked by hardwood. Meat dishes such as beef filet bresaola-style with grilled red onions are particularly successful, as is the handmade gnocchi. The menu changes often to take advantage of local, seasonal ingredients. The mostly Italian wine list offers interesting and well-priced selections. The service is helpful, though sometimes slow. It's best to just sit back and enjoy the ride. The patio is a particularly pleasant spot on fine summer nights.
