Some places just naturally have that special, inviting vibe. This cheerful and always-crowded breakfast café is a cut above the norm for several reasons. Its servers could win a prize for friendliness. Its décor is arty and comfortable, but first and foremost is the food. The staff takes great care in providing first-rate meals, from the pots of homemade jam on every table to six versions of eggs Benedict. Hungry diners can start the day with a choice of classic egg dishes, four varieties of hash, several omelets, waffles, and topnotch sourdough french toast. Lunch selections range from sandwiches to salads and pastas. Dinner gets a bit pricier---but is still comparatively reasonable---with fresh and inventive steak, seafood and pasta entrées.
