There aren't many choices for authentic dim sum in Portland, but Fong Chong's dim sum, served daily at lunch, is some of the best in town. The décor may be shabby-chic Chinese, but the dumpling-laden carts make the aisles as busy as L.A. freeways. In other places, hum baos (large buns filled with barbecue pork) tend to be dry, but not here; succulent and tender for every bite is the norm. The shrimp dumplings are nicely paper-thin and tasty, and even humble pot stickers are moist. If you ever doubted the superiority of good Cantonese cooking, Fong Chong's first-rate dinner entrées will dispel your skepticism.
