Owner Doris Rodriguez Platt brings an edgy taste of her native Peru to this stylish spot in the Pearl District. While most ethnic restaurants often provide either authentic cuisine or a colorful ambience, Andina delivers both---and much more. The restaurant is divided into three sections: a formal dining area, the casual Bar Mestizo, and the kitchen counter where guests can grill the cooking line as they put together the evening's dishes. The menu offers a unique hybrid fare called novo-Andean. From piquant ceviche to well-constructed entrées, to the wide selection of South American wines, every aspect of this friendly spot transports diners to a land faraway. A typical dish, arroz con pato, features pan-seared duck breast and crispy duck confit served over cilantro-infused rice. The wine list here is impressive.
