Supper Description:
New York-born Mitch Prensky and his wife Jennifer follow up their successful Global Dish catering business with this stylish South Street restaurant. From its cool hammered-copper exterior to artsy light sculptures, the place delivers California sex appeal in a sophisticated setting. Prensky has energy to burn in the kitchen, creatively adding a schmear of coconut marshmallow to a velvety carrot tangerine soup, or pairing Berkshire pork belly with lentils, miso and quince. Try one of the tartines, sandwiches stuffed with the likes of rabbit rillettes and green olive or French ham and Vermont butter. His autumn squash gnocchi makes us wish spring would never come. For dessert, the crisp mango turnovers with spiced caramel and passion fruit ice cream are topnotch, but then there's also the dark chocolate olive oil mousse with sea salt. Also, this is a good place for a munch and specialty cocktail at the bar.
