Horizons Description:
Whether you're vegan or just like to eat seasonal, boldly flavored cuisine, broaden your palate at the breezy Horizons. Hung with bright, local art, the bi-level restaurant includes a downstairs lounge and a comfy bar. Chef-owner Rich Landau works magic with layers of texture, color, and bold, ethnic flavors. The menu changes often, but if you're lucky the curried eggplant bisque will be featured, garnished with pistachio chutney. The Vietnamese bruschetta blends lemon grass-glazed tofu with a zesty cilantro mint relish, and the golden beet panzanella salad, with its smoked tofu and roasted veggies, redefines the Italian staple. Seitan, a wheat-protein meat stand-in, soaks up a barbecue sauce atop Yukon mash. Mushroom lovers will like the blend of five forest fungi accented with a wilted endive salad and a caper mustard sauce. Co-owner Kate Jacoby is both general manager and pastry chef, whipping up a coconut tres leches that you'd swear was dairy-based, but is not. Just another bit of magic that awaits at Horizons.
